What are Data Streams?
Data streams are continuous streams of information, comprised of an almost infinite variety of data types, including events, transactions, messages, records, readings, media, call detail, SQL queries, feeds, web access, RSS feeds, financial transactions, point-of-sale transactions, etc.
Enterprises must act upon data to do business, and today most companies process data streams in 'batches'. This means that any information derived from them is already old by the time it is processed. In order to act upon ‘fresh’ data, enterprises must be able to process the stream itself, not the data in batch-mode.
This is why uCirrus' PUSHvm data stream processor enables streaming data processing for rapid, real-time processing of enterprise data streams.
